Isfahan and Deep Zoom for Silverlight

by xiquinho 8/16/2008 10:50:00 PM

Early this year I went to the ai-ah-tó-lás' country to visit Isfahan, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, not knowing how long it will remain so because it is said to be the primary location of the Iranian nuclear weapons program.

I took some pictures there but being very busy during this year I didn’t find time yet to upload it. Meanwhile, back in the civilized world, Microsoft launched Deep Zoom, a cool new technology for Silverlight that allows to display high resolution pictures on the internet. In a nutshell, the deep zoom technology allows you to view large images by only sending to your browser the portion of the image that you will actually be viewing on your screen.

Combining Isfahan pictures and Deep Zoom the result is below:

Quote Of The Day

The Church must avoid "being compromised in defense of Christian principles and humanity by being drawn into purely man-made politics ... the Church is only interested in upholding her legacy of Truth. ... The purely worldly problems, in which the Jewish people may see themselves involved, are of no interest to her."

- Pope Pius XII
